I simply adore the January Birchbox. The box reads ‘2016: The Year of’, and some fun stickers were included with words like joy, creativity, strength, ambition, etc. for us to stick on the front and fill in the blank. It’s a super cute idea, one that I can appreciate, but I’ve decided to leave my box open to the possibilities and keep it blank. 2016 will be a huge year for Randy and I; it’s the year we say “I do”. Every year is what you make of it, and, for us, 2016 is a year for love, unity, appreciation, fun, family, and friends. Quite simply, it’s the best year, ever!
I adore the samples included in this box almost as much as I do the box itself! Here’s what I received this month…
Klorane, Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk: This is one of THE best dry shampoos I have ever used; I will absolutely be purchasing it in the near future. I wasn’t sure about the scent at first, but it ended up growing on me. I love the finish this product delivers. My hair is left bouncy, shiny, and looks freshly washed, with no sticky or grimy residue left behind. A+!!!
Eyeko, Black Magic Mascara: I’m fairly picky when it comes to mascaras. I’m not a huge fan of this one. It didn’t do much for volume or length, but it does stay put. I’ll use it in combination with some of my faves that I own, but I won’t purchase it in the future.
TONYMOLY, Delight Tony Tint, in Red: I really like this tint. It stays put and leaves behind a beautiful, natural shade of red. This is the product I requested to receive in my box as my sample choice. It was also included in the On Trend Korean Beauty Box. I love the matte finish and the fact that it’s more like a stain. I highly suggest exfoliating and moisturizing your lips before using it, otherwise it can appear splotchy, and that’s no good. Oh, and it smells and tastes sweet!… love!
Embryolisse, Lait-Creme Concentre: My skin has been drying out more than usual lately due to the extreme dry air here in Chicago. I have our humidifier going non-stop, I’m using my winter essentials (you can view them HERE), and I’m staying hydrated. Still, I’m open to trying anything that promises a boost in moisture, and that’s what this stuff does. It actually plumps skin, smoothing fine lines and relieving dryness. I didn’t get my hopes up before using it, but now, three uses later, I’m a huge fan! I will purchase this once my sample is used. BONUS: You don’t need to use a lot of product to get amazing results. Two thumbs way up!
Number 4, Super Comb Prep & Protect: My hair is super thick, coarse, and wavy. I don’t blow dry my hair, but I do use my straightening iron quite a bit. So, I need all the help I can get when it comes to helping my hair retain moisture. Natural conditioners in this spray, including black currant, soy yogurt, algae, and yerba mate combine to restore hydration to dry hair, while the unique UV/Color Polar Shield protects dyed or sun-exposed locks. Soy and vegetable proteins repair damage caused by heat and chemical styling. And don’t forget about the de-frizzing factor!… anti-static technology tames fly-aways, making hair more manageable and easy to style. The sulfate-free formula sinks in quickly and has a floral scent thanks to white freesia, amber, and musk. I’m not really a fan of floral scents, but this one is amazing. LOVE!
I’ve had my box for nearly two weeks, and I’ve had a chance to try all of the products. My favorites out of the lineup are by Klorane, and Embryolisse. What were your favorites out of your January box? Let me know in the comments below!
